I started Renewal not just to publish my own books but I also want to partner with authors who have a vision to change communities. Tiffanie and I have been friends for over a decade and I’ve always enjoyed learning about her Korean culture. Even though China and Korea are bordering countries, each country has a unique culture and I realize that we don’t do enough to share our cultures with each other. It’s especially important to me now because I recently learned through a DNA test that I’m a small percentage Korean myself. Our new book All Year for One Day is the story of a family getting ready and celebrating the Korean New Year. The book is influenced by Korean art but uniquely Korean American to reflect the author. Our hope with this book is that people would learn something about the Korean culture but also be more curious about their own culture. I believe that we can build bridges between ethnic communities when we come as storytellers and learners. Would you like a copy of our new book?
